Katherine Cart rests on the rocks near Pemaquid, Maine in this tender watercolor by Christopher Cart.  Christopher captures her wistful tiredness after a day of exploring and climbing with the love of a father and the insight of an artist. purchase inquiries at paintings@christophercart.com "Resting" is also available as a reproduction in our print shop.

Carl Little included this striking watercolor in his book, "The Art of Maine in Winter", in company with images by Jamie Wyeth, Winslow Homer and Rockwell Kent.  On the surface, the painting can be enjoyed for its depiction of a black Labrador in the beauty of the Maine woods in winter.   On a technical level, the painting is a tour de force on the presentation of entire world with a nearly monochromatic palette.

"A full sheet watercolor.  This was one of Andrew Wyeth's favorites when he saw my show at Gallery One in Rockland, Maine.  Spent a unforgettable half hour with Mr. Wyeth and Helga Testorf  viewing the show in 2004."
