Although the figure in boudoir painting is semi-nude, the over all feeling is one of freshness and innocence. The white of the petticoat and painted wood vanity combined with the blue wall paper and fresh morning light create a feel of bright cool summer morning air. The model’s pose is upright and her body is almost childlike in its slender vulnerability. In fact the only overtly sensuous passage in the painting is the model’s long lushly auburn hair, and even that is mostly concealed by the model’s shoulder. A very New England boudoir picture, and perhaps more beautiful for what it leaves unsaid. Lithograph of the original 1990 watercolor. This is a numbered limited edition print signed by the artist.
