Dance Lesson

An Irish Step dancer leaps straight as an arrow into the late afternoon air.  A dancer gracefully holding back her colorful skirt anchors the front of the composition, while a young girl with a black leather choker and exposed midriff brings the timeless scene of dancers practicing firmly into the present day.  This fluidity of time period is a feature of many Christopher Cart paintings giving the viewer a sense of eternity and immediacy combined – a sense of being part of the flow of the river of time.
